E-Mail Messages Sent by Concept Gardien
I received the following message : "Friendly Reminder From Concept Gardien. No Scheduled Backup for Today". What does it mean ?
When the backup countdown reaches zero, Concept Gardien launches the automatic backup procedure. If no backup set is scheduled for the day or there is simply no programmed backup set, Concept Gardien will send a courtesy message to let you know that the program is working properly.
I get a message saying "File size exceeds nn % of your package limit." What does it mean?
Concept Gardien comes with a monthly fee based on the number of GB (gigabytes) allocated (1 GB = 1,024,000,000 bytes approximately). If the total number of bytes transferred during the month exceeds the percentage displayed, a message is sent to you to let you know that you are approaching the limit of your package.
I get a message saying "File size exceeds your package limit. Additional fees will be charged." What does it mean ?

I get a message saying "The backup has not been executed : Invalid User Code and/or Password." Why ?
This message appears when either the User Code or the Password or both are invalid. Please edit them in the Parameters section and validate them to make sure they are valid.
I get the following message : "Backup not executed : Inactive account." Why ?
This message appears when the associated record linked to your Concept Gardien serial number is marked as inactive. The reasons for a disabled account are numerous. Please contact our customer service at : 1-888-758-3683, for more information.
I have the following message : "Error opening backup set file." Why ?
This message should never occur and is a sign that something is wrong with either Concept Gardien or your computer. To correct the situation, please restart the computer on which Concept Gardien is running. If the problem persists, contact your Concept Gardien technician .
I received the following message : "Error connecting to the Gardien server. Reason : xxxxx". What does it mean ?
Concept Gardien must communicate through the Internet with the backup server on the cloud server. If the problem persists, contact your Concept Gardien technician .
I received the following message : "Backup #nn completed. nnn KB transferred in nnn file(s)". Does this mean that the backup was completed successfully ?
Yes, when this message is sent, it means Concept Gardien has completed the backup and indicates some details, such as the sequence number of the backup, the number of kilobytes (KB) transferred and finally, the number of files.
I received the following message : "nnn error(s) encountered during backup #nnn. Please refer to the history for details. nnn KB transferred". Does it mean that the backup is invalid ?
This message warns you that a number of errors occurred during the backup and is probably invalid, should you have to restore. These errors can come from many sources. Check the history for more information on errors encountered. Among the reasons for these errors, there are: 1) the listed files are opened by applications. Make sure all programs are closed in the evening. 2) read errors on the hard disk. Have your system checked by a technician. 3) limited access rights to files. Check access rights. In all cases, contact your Concept Gardien technician .
I have this message : "Socket Error #nnnnn. What does it mean ?
This message means that the connection between Concept Gardien and the cloud server was interrupted unexpectedly. This can come from different sources, such as an Internet connection lost, the router failed, the cloud server has issues... If this happens, it is strongly recommended to check the Internet connection and launch a manual backup. If this message occurs every time, have the system checked by a qualified Concept Gardien technician .
I have the following message : "Error compressing [file name]". What does it mean ?
This message is very rare and means that Concept Gardien was unable to add the file mentioned in the archive file and therefore, it will not be included in the final backup. It would probably be invalid if it should be restored.
I have this message "Error transferring [file name]. Reason : [reason here]. What does this mean ?
This message means that the file mentioned could not be saved on the cloud server and therefore, the backup is invalid. The connection between Concept Gardien and the storage server in the clouds was interrupted unexpectedly. This can come from different sources, such as the Internet connection has been lost, the router failed, the cloud server has issues... If this happens, it is strongly recommended to check the Internet connection and try a manual backup. If this message occurs every time, have the system checked by a qualified Concept Gardien technician .
I received the message "No such directory". What should I do ?
This message can have two known causes. The first is that the folder where your data should be stored in the clouds was not prepared by our technicians. It is important to contact our customer service to confirm. In the second case, the message is also accompanied by a "Socket Error". This means that the connection between Concept Gardien and the server was interrupted. See the above section on "Socket Error" to learn more about this error.
Configuring Concept Gardien
How can I change the e-mail address for receiving messages from Concept Gardien ?
Click the "Parameters" option in the left menu. In the e-mail field, enter the new address. To validate the address, click the Test button. Concept Gardien will send you a confirmation message. Check your inbox. If the message is received, the address is valid. Otherwise, correct the address. For more information, see Parameters.
Where can I find my User Code and Password ?
This information was given to you when you purchased Concept Gardien. The User Code begins with the letter G and is followed by six digits. The Password consists of numbers and letters, and has a length of 10 characters. If you have not received this information, please contact our customer service at: 1-888-758-3683, option 1.
I need more GB of monthly transfer. How can I get more ?
To increase your allocated number of monthly GB, please communicate our customer service at : 1-888-758-3683, option 1.
When I click the OK button in the Parameters screen, I get the following message : "Input out of limits". Why ?
This message is displayed when the date and/or time of the next scheduled backup is invalid, that is to say, they represent a date and/or time in the pass. Please correct the information.
I erased the content of my history by mistake. Is it possible to recover it ?
Unfortunately, no. Concept Gardien cannot retrieve the contents of the history once cleared.
How many different Backup Sets can I create in Concept Gardien ?
You may create an unlimited number of backup sets.
What is the "Active Set" box for ?
This box allows you to temporarily disable a backup (unchecked) without deleting it. For example, you no longer want to save documents for a temporarily inactive department. When the department becomes active and new data is stored, you can reactivate the backup set.
When the box "Include sub-folders" is checked, are all folders contained within a sub-folder included ?
Yes. Concept Gardien saves all sub-folders contained within sob-folders, regardless of the number of nested levels.
How exclusions based on file extensions works ?
By default, Concept Gardien saves all files contained in each folders of the backup set. However, it often happens that some file types do not need to be saved, such as non-significant auxiliary files, programs or any other type of non-important files. In this situation, simply enter a list of file extensions to exclude from the backup.
I need to restore some of my files. How do I proceed ?
Click the "Download Archive Files" menu option. The list of all available files appears. Select the file(s) to restore and click "Download Selected Files" . You must specify the folder to save the archive files. Concept Gardien will not attempt to decompress the restored files. It is your responsibility to extract the files to the correct locations. Make sure you have the required knowledge to perform this task because it can lead to data loss. Asking for a qualified technician is highly recommended . All archive files are protected by a password. Use your Concept Gardien Password to access the files in the archive.
How to install Concept Gardien ?
Concept Gardien does not ship with an installation procedure. Instead, just create a folder named "Gardien" on the hard drive of the computer on which it will be installed and unzip the contents of "Gardien.zip". Refer to the section on installation for more information. Enlist the help of a Concept Gardien technician to perform these tasks as required .
What is the file format used by Concept Gardien for its Archive Files ?
Concept Gardien archive files are compressed .ZIP files. The .ZIP file format is recognized natively by Windows and several commercial programs such as PKZip or WinZip. The archive files are protected by a password. Use your Concept Gardien Password to access the files in the archives.
Concept Gardien works well but does not appear in the Windows Task Bar. Where is it ?
Concept Gardien is a Windows Service and therefore has no visible icon in the task bar. Only the UI module (Gardien.exe) appears in the taskbar when executed.
